Bulk Import & ExportImporting Products

Importing Products

Upload a CSV or Excel file to update product data in Cloud MT. The import process walks you through mapping your file columns to Cloud MT fields, previewing changes, and executing the update.

Before You Start

  • Download the import template from the Bulk Import & Export page for a pre-formatted file with dropdowns and validation.
  • Your file must include either a Product ID or Lookup Code column - this is how Turbo MT matches rows to existing products.
  • Only existing products can be updated. You cannot create new products via import.

Blank cells will remove existing data in Cloud MT. If you only want to update specific fields, make sure other columns are either excluded from the mapping or contain the current values.

Import Steps

Name Your Import

Give your import a name so you can find it later. This label appears on the import jobs list.

Upload Your File

Select a CSV or Excel file (max 4.2 MB). The file is parsed locally in your browser - headers appear in the first row and data rows below.

Supported formats:

  • .csv - Parsed with standard CSV rules
  • .xlsx - Formulas use their calculated result, hyperlinks extract the text value

Map Your Columns

This is where you tell Turbo MT which file columns correspond to which Cloud MT fields.

Auto-mapping: Columns with names that match Cloud MT fields (e.g. “Product Name”, “Short Description”) are mapped automatically and shown with an “Auto-mapped” label. Auto-mapped columns cannot be remapped.

Collection columns: Headers like “Collection 1”, “Collection 2”, etc. are automatically mapped to the Collections field.

Manual mapping: For unmatched columns, use the dropdown to select the correct Cloud MT field. The dropdown sorts options by similarity to your column name.

Toggling columns on/off: Use the switch on each row to include or exclude that column from the import. Only active columns are processed.

Identifier rules: Product ID and Lookup Code are mutually exclusive. Once one is active, the other is hidden from the mapping options. The system auto-activates Product ID if found, otherwise Lookup Code.

Collections replace entirely. When you import collections, each product’s full collection list is overwritten with what’s in your file. Any existing collections not in your file will be removed from that product. Collection columns always toggle on/off as a group.

Filtering the list:

  • Use the search box to filter file headers by name.
  • If any active columns are unmapped, a “Needs mapping” tab appears so you can quickly find and fix them.

Status indicator: The footer shows your mapping progress:

  • Green - All active fields are mapped and an identifier is set
  • Orange - An identifier is set but some active fields are unmapped
  • Red - No identifier (Product ID or Lookup Code) is mapped

Preview Import

After submitting your mappings, Turbo MT validates every row against Cloud MT:

  • Product IDs are checked to ensure they exist
  • Lookup Codes are resolved to product IDs
  • Categories, colours, genders, age groups are validated against your Cloud MT account
  • Department and Item Group filters are checked against your browse structure
  • Collections are validated against your collection list
  • Numeric fields are checked for valid numbers
  • Date fields (e.g. Prelaunch Date) must be valid and in the future

If any rows have issues, they are flagged on the preview page. You can still import the valid rows - invalid ones are skipped.

Start Import

Click Start Import to begin. Products are updated one at a time and you can track progress in real time:

  • A progress counter shows how many products have been processed
  • Time remaining is estimated based on average processing speed
  • The currently processing product name is displayed
  • You can pause and resume at any time - partially completed imports pick up where they left off

After Importing

The import detail page shows the final status:

  • Completed - All products were processed successfully
  • Partially completed - Some products were processed. Click “Resume Import” to continue.
  • Failed items - Products that could not be updated are listed with error details. You can export failed items as an Excel file to review errors and fix your data.

Retrying Failed Items

If products fail, click Export Failed Items to download an Excel file with error details. Fix the issues in your file, then click Create New Import to start a new import. Your previous column mappings are preserved so you don’t have to remap everything.

Import Settings

Preserve AutoSIM Selection - When enabled, products keep their current “Use AutoSIM Data” setting during import. When disabled (default), AutoSIM is turned off for imported products. This setting is saved to your device.
